Description
Which Box Is Right for My Product?
Start with what you ship. Then match the box to the load.
| Your product | Best box | Best insert |
|---|---|---|
| Earbuds and small gadgets | Printed E-flute mailer | Die-cut cardboard tray |
| Headphones and speakers | B-flute carton | Shaped EVA foam |
| Routers and smart home devices | B-flute or double-wall carton | Cardboard dividers or foam |
| Tablets and laptops accessories | B-flute carton | Fitted foam with cable pocket |
| Heavy hardware and equipment | Double-wall carton | Thick foam or heavy dividers |
How Strong Does the Outer Box Need to Be?
Stronger is not always better. An oversized box lets the product move. A heavy box costs more to ship. Choose the lightest board that still does the job.
| Board | Thickness | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| E-flute single-wall | About 1.5mm | Light gadgets and retail mailers | Not for heavy loads |
| B-flute single-wall | About 3mm | Most small electronics | Needs a tight insert |
| EB-flute double-wall | About 4 to 5mm | Medium-weight devices | Costs more to post |
| BC-flute double-wall | About 6 to 7mm | Heavy kit and pallet loads | Adds weight |
Thickness varies slightly between board mills. We confirm the exact board on your quote.
Which Insert Keeps My Device Safe?
The box takes the knocks. The insert stops the movement. Pick the insert by how fragile the product is.
| Insert | Best for | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Die-cut cardboard | Accessories and light devices | Low cost and easy to recycle |
| EVA foam | Premium devices and precision kit | Firm and cut to the exact shape |
| EPE foam | General cushioning | Soft and shock absorbing |
| Moulded pulp | Shaped trays for compatible devices | Fibre based and recyclable |
| Corrugated dividers | Kits with several parts | Keeps cables from scratching screens |
Is Anti-Static Foam the Same as ESD Protection?
No. This catches many buyers out.
Standard foam is not anti-static. Anti-static foam reduces static build-up. Full ESD protection for bare circuit boards or sensitive components can also need shielding bags and the right handling steps.
If your product is static sensitive tell us before you order. We will talk through suitable materials with you. We will not promise protection that the box cannot give.
Can I Print My Brand on a Shipping Box?
Yes. A branded box tells the customer the parcel is yours before they open it.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Full colour CMYK | Prints logos and product artwork sharply |
| Pantone matching | Keeps your brand colour the same every time |
| Inside printing | Adds a welcome note or setup tips under the lid |
| QR codes | Links to manuals or a support page |
| Spot UV and foil | Adds a premium detail on suitable cartons |
| Tear strip | Makes opening easy for the customer |
Keep the finish simple on shipping cartons. A box has to survive the courier first and look good second.
What Should I Compare Before Choosing a Supplier?
Many packaging pages list materials and stop there. Ask these questions before you order.
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Are the box and insert made to fit together? | A great box with a loose insert still lets products move |
| Is my exact product size used? | Standard sizes leave gaps |
| Can I order a small first batch? | You can test the fit before buying more |
| Is the print inside and outside? | The unboxing is part of your brand |
| Is the board grade stated clearly? | You can compare quotes fairly |
| Are the claims honest? | Anti-static and recyclable have real limits |
We make the box and insert as one pack. We cut both to your product. We state the board grade on every quote.
Can I Order a Small Batch?
Yes. You can order with no minimum. A first run of fifty boxes is as welcome as a pallet.
A small batch lets you pack real products and shake them. If something moves we change the insert before you order more. Boxes arrive flat so they take up little space until you pack them.
When your orders grow we quote larger runs at a lower cost per box. Matching mailers and gift boxes are in our custom packaging solutions UK range. If your product needs more transit protection see our wider custom protective packaging options.

- Any static or moisture concerns
Email us and we will reply with a box and insert suggestion and a quote.
